Welcome yourself to the 21st century with the high-end app Smart Things for Samsung accounts. You need it to never get up from your chair or sofa again, you control everything from the phone now: your lights, your TV, AV, AC and other electronic devices (outlets, sirens, locks, switches, etc.) at your house. You can create a schedule of your devices’ work and build a smart home with this app.
The app’s design is very slick, simple and cool. It’s user-friendly because it has How to Use icon right at the center of the main interface screen with YouTube videos attached. From the main screen, you have also Creating scenes large icon and Add Devices icon. The bottom row of the screen is Dashboard (main screen with large icons), Devices (you have the list, and you can manage all your devices from here) and Automations (you create the schedule for any device or scene you want).
Now I can take control over the electronic devices in my house. But I can’t do that with my regular light bulb or a TV remote - it has to be a specific type and brand. Home Appliances have to be by Samsung only, and I can use this app with TVs for example only since 2016 and later. The light bulb should be by Cree, Eaton Halo or Wemo. Outlets by Aurora and Centralite etc.
So if I have those, I can put all of them into this app and control them from a distance if I’m connected to Wi-Fi. I chose to control my Samsung AC and TV. Also, I can create a scene - is a number of specific devices which need to be switched on or off at a specific room of my house or time of the day. For example, when I go to bed at 11 PM, I need to switch off my TV and put AC on specific temperature, so I choose the name of my scene, set the time and choose the device action for the scene.
The app really helped to improve my life. I don’t need to waste my time on some things that I used to do - now SmartThings takes care of it. It performed very well during all time I was using it, never had glitches, bugs or anything like that. I would say that sometimes it takes more time to switch things on or off than I expected them to. Therefore, sometimes I think that it would be faster just to get to the device I want and switch it off or on manually. I also enjoyed the experience of chatting with the support - those guys work fast and help you to enjoy the app more.
I didn’t notice it had any inside app purchases available. It’s free, and it regularly updates for free as well. But I guess it makes sense because to use this app you have to buy a lot of specific things to your house already, so I would be very upset if I had to buy anything more than that in this app.
It’s a pretty cool app, and I think of myself as a modern and edgy person when I use it and tell my friends about it. Not everybody understands though and prefer to use things as before. Some of my relatives are openly afraid of this app because they have a fear of an AI. But I do recommend it to use to experience high tech at your own house. It’s the way of the future which is today.
